Tourism UP
With the collaboration of MEPI, AMAJ has launched since 2021 the pilot project “Tourism Up” which aims to improve tourism in the governorates of Tozeur and Kebili.
“AMAJ” or Media and Youth Animation Association was created on October 23, 2012 (as officially published in the Official Journal of the Tunisian Republic JORT) immediately after the Tunisian revolution by a group of young people from Kebili who seek to develop their region.
MEPI (Middle East Partnership Initiative) addresses the emerging needs and opportunities of both citizens and organizations with two fundamental goals: participatory governance, economic opportunities, and strengthening partnerships between citizens, NGOs, private sector, and government institutions to promote shared solutions for MENA residents.
Project concept
The Tourism Up project supports approximately 200 professionals in eight hotels and guesthouses with a set of targeted training and activities aimed at enhancing customer service and assessment tools to meet the needs of local and international guests.
Main objectives
The Tourism Up project aims to:
- Strengthen the skills of hotels and B&Bs staff and managers in order to professionalize tourism in the governorates of Tozeur and Kebili
- Develop and implement a communication and marketing strategy to help hotels and B&Bs to better address the needs and feedback of customers through a dedicated digital platform
A wide range of activities
- Training sessions focused on the different hotel customer services, CRM, ERP, MICE and Community Management. The training sessions were held in Tozeur and Kebili with the participation of more than 8 hotels and B&Bs from each region
- TOT trainings for participants to learn training methods and pedagogy
- Development of a digital platform that will be used to offer customers a space to share their experiences and evaluate the performance of the hotels / B&Bs. The platform will not only serve as a space for sharing and exchange but also as a tourist guide for future local and international guests
- Raising awareness of both the project and the regions (Kebili and Tozeur) through CSO ambassadors, social media influencers...
Towards a bright future :
Between customer service up to par, the implementation of digital software and luxurious digital experiences … This is what tourism will look like in southern Tunisia through the project “Tourism Up”. The latter will be a real geographical entry point and will help hotels and B&Bs to bring to the market new concepts, new ideas, new services essential to raise the attractiveness of the region’s touristic infrastructure.
